Tahoe Donner offers a wide variety of Summer Camp programs for kids. Each summer I hear more and more happy mom’s and dad’s tell me that the camps for the kids are great. The camp programs, which are packed with learning and exploration, are designed for kids ages 3 – 12. The programs are geared towards outdoor education and environmental awareness. Some of the adventures Day Campers will encounter include activites like river rafting, rock climbing, beach outings, hiking and exploring the Tahoe National Forest. The trained staff works hard to give each child a unique and safe environment for fun exploration. Register early as camp sessions fill quickly.

Age requirements. Please, please make sure you enroll your child in the right camp program for his/or her age group. This is to ensure the safety of each camper. If you do enroll your child in the wrong class, your child will be dismissed with no refund. Just make sure your child is in the right camp program!

Registration for the 2009 summer Day Camp season will take place online. Registration for members will take place on Friday, May 1 and registration for guests will take place on Friday, May 15. Camp Descriptions

High Mountain Kids Camp

Ages: 3 – 4 years old
Time: 9:15 a.m. – 12:15 p.m.; Wednesday 9 a.m. – noon
Location: Pick-up/Drop-off at Trout Creek Recreation Center; Wednesday Pick-up/Drop-off at the Beach Club Marina
Cost: Members $130, Guests $150We will focus on providing a nurturing environment for the youngest members of Tahoe Donner. Activities are focused outdoors, and include, swimming, arts and crafts, creative play, and Wednesday barbecue at the Beach Club Marina. Participants must bring a daypack with drinking water, a snack, closed-toe shoes, swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, a change of clothes, and a white tee shirt to tie-dye. Children must be potty-trained to attend. No Pull-ups are allowed.

Explorers

Ages: 5 years old
Time: 9 a.m. – noon
Location: Pick-up/Drop-off at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area Snowflakes Room; Wednesday Pick-up/Drop-off at the Beach Club Marina
Cost: Members $130, Guests $150Outdoor activities, hiking, outdoor games, as well as arts and crafts, and a Wednesday barbecue at the Beach Club Marina are just some of the highlights of what this camp offers. Pioneers

Ages: 6 – 7 years old
Time: 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Pick-up/Drop-off at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area; Wednesday Pick-up/Drop-off at the Beach Club Marina
Cost: Member $170, Guest $190The Pioneers program will begin to challenge your child with adventurous outdoor activities. Activities include, swimming, hiking, indoor rock-climbing, outdoor games, arts and crafts, and Wednesday barbecue at the Beach Club Marina. Donner Lake Adventure Camp

Ages: 8 – 9 years old
Time: 9:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.; Wednesday 9 a.m. – 2 p.m.
Location: Pick-up/Drop-off at the Beach Club Marina Clubhouse (located at the exit gate in the Beach Club Marina parking lot)
Cost: Member $170, Guest $190Donner Lake Adventure Camp is designed to challenge campers with the wide array of water sports and adventures in and around Donner Lake. Campers will have the opportunity to participate in canoeing, kayaking, paddleboat races, hiking, beach games, arts and crafts, indoor rock-climbing, other adventure trips, and Wednesday barbecues. Participants must bring a daypack with drinking water, a hearty lunch, a hat, sweatshirt, swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, a change of clothes, and a white tee shirt to tie-dye.

Club Tahoe Donner

Ages: 10 – 12 years old
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Location: Pick-up/Drop-off at the Tahoe Donner Downhill Ski Area Cafeteria; Wednesday Pick-up/Drop-off at the Beach Club Marina

Each day a new excursion will take place in this adventurous camp. They include trips to the beach, indoor rock climbing, Sierra hiking, river rafting, and adventure field trips. Arts and crafts, outdoor games, and other favorites will also be included. Participants must bring a daypack with drinking water, a hearty lunch, hiking shoes, a hat, sweatshirt, swimsuit, sunscreen, towel, a change of clothes, and a white tee shirt to tie-dye.

Currently, Tahoe Donner Home Owner Association dues are $1200 per year. In addition, a recreation pass can be purchased for $240 (annual fee for a family of 4) and this allows unlimited access to Trout Creek Recreation Center, Northwoods Pool, Beach Club Marina and the Tennis Complex.

Alder Creek Campground is a special little gem located along Alder Creek. The campground is close to hiking and biking trails. This well-maintained campground is loaded with amenities such as:

Reservations

Reservations are accepted for Alder Creek Campground.
Visa, MasterCard or an American Express card is required to hold reservations. While the campground is available for public use, member and guest rates are available upon presentation of a member ID card or a transferable guest card when checking in. Stays are limited to 28 days.

Directions

Take 89-North exit from Interstate 80 in Truckee, travel north 2 miles to Alder Creek Road, turn left, travel 3 miles further to the campground. (If you’re pulling an RV, DON’T take Northwoods Boulevard into Tahoe Donner; it’s a 10 percent grade that you can avoid by taking the route described above). Saturday, September 5	University of Nevada Pro/Am Exhibition – Join the University of Nevada Wolfpack Men’s Tennis Team for an afternoon of great tennis. Team up with one of the Nevada players and compete in an afternoon of doubles action or just come down and watch some of your fellow Tahoe Donner tennis friends compete. The event finishes off with food, drinks, and the University men playing each other in a high quality exhibition. All proceeds go to help support the Nevada Men’s Tennis Team. Saturday – Sunday, September 26 – 27	Tahoe Donner’s First Annual USTA Fall Junior Challenger – This final event of the season is a focus on the continued growth of Junior Tennis in the Reno/Tahoe area. This tournament completes the circuit of USTA Junior Events in this region. We are proud to host two of only four USTA Tournaments available to junior players. The Challenger division is designed to help those players continue to push their level of play toward the Open Divisions. Reservations Policy

Court Reservation Policy
Five of our eleven courts are available on a reservation basis for our members. Reservations may be made in person or by telephone, after 9:30 a.m., for the following day. Reservations are booked and rotate at the top of every hour. When booking courts please make sure to have all the players’ names available, this will help reduce the chance of double bookings. Two-hour reservations for morning play will only be made from 8 – 10 a.m. and 10 a.m. – noon. Please check in before your scheduled time. All reservations not claimed within five minutes of the start time will be reassigned to the first party on the waiting list.

Court Walk-on Policy
The remaining six courts are available for walk-on play. If you are not able to make reservations you can use an available walk-on court. Walk-on courts rotate every 1 1/4 hours for singles play and 1 3/4 hours for doubles play. Walk-on courts will be booked on a first come first serve basis. If all courts are occupied you will be placed on a wait list and given a start time. All walk-on courts not immediately claimed will be passed to the next party on the wait list. The number of walk-on courts available will be limited to help accommodate lesson and clinic demand.

Tahoe Donner Northwoods Clubhouse

The Northwoods Clubhouse is one of the many hubs of Tahoe Donner activity. This is the place that “runs” Tahoe Donner. When you need to pick up your Property Owner I.D. or pay for your Rec Pass, this is where you go.

Families flock to the Northwoods Clubhouse for the family swimming pool and evenings draw families again for Bingo Night. You won’t be a stranger to Tahoe Donner’s Northwoods Clubhouse for long!

Pool Policies

Water Slide Rules
Sliding head first is not permitted. Stopping in the tunnel is also prohibited. There is only one person allowed in the slide at a time. No swimming is allowed in the red zone while slide is in use. No catching slider during slide deployment. Coast Guard approved life jackets may be worn by swimmers needing assistance only if they are able to reach the pool side by themselves. Slide will not be opened unless lifeguard is present.

Floatation Devices
The only flotation devices allowed in the pool are Coast Guard-approved life jackets. Swimsuits with floaties sewn in are not allowed. Swimmers wearing life jackets must be accompanied by an adult in the water at all times.

Diapers
Swim diapers and/or tight fitting rubber pants are required for all children who are not potty-trained. Swim diapers are available for sale at the Recreation Info Hut.

Pool Closures
To successfully eliminate pool closures due to “potty accidents” in the pool, parents should be aware that the Northwoods Pool staff may implement a mandatory 10-minute bathroom break up to once per hour. In the event of a potty-accident in the pool a mandatory 24-hour pool closure will be required.

Adult Supervision
All children under 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Swim Sticker Program
Children ages 9 – 13 can register at Trout Creek Recreation Center to obtain non-supervised swim privileges. A swim test will be required and a wrist band identifying them as a ‘non-supervised’ must be worn at all times. These privileges include Trout Creek Recreation Center Rec Pool, Family Spa, outdoor restrooms, and Northwoods Pool.

Private and Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Purchased per lesson. Our private lessons are designed to provide instruction for basic skills such as floating, kicking and breath control, to advanced stroke refinement. Instructors will gauge the level of each student and work with them at their own pace. Each lesson is 30 minutes long. Purchase of semi-private lessons entitles registrant to a minimum of two and maximum of three participants per each semi-private lesson. Students may be no more than one level apart. All lessons must be booked at least one week prior to class start date. Lessons are available Mondays – Thursdays at Northwoods Pool from Monday, June 15 – Thursday, August 21 at 5 p.m., 5:35 p.m., and 6:10 p.m. Morning private lessons are available at Trout Creek Recreation Center. Pool Parties
Celebrate your occasion with a private pool party! Northwoods Pool is available Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 5 – 7:30 p.m. for private parties. Reservations must be made in advance by calling the Aquatics Coordinator at Trout Creek Recreation Center, (530) 582-9646. Alcohol is permitted on the premises during pool parties, with the exception of glass containers. All pool parties must be booked at least one week prior to the event date. Fee: $75. (Maximum capacity is 50 persons.)

Pizza Party Add-on
Enjoy all-you-can-eat pizza, soda and chocolate chip cookies for an additional $10 per person. Reservations must be made in advance by contacting the Aquatics Coordinator at (530) 582-9646.

The Trout Creek Recreation Center is state of the art and very deluxe. It is a first class four season facility with a weight room, cardio room, fitness classroom, large recreational pool with expansive decking, kiddie pool, an adult lap pool, massage treatment, steam room, sauna and hot jetted spas. It doesn’t get any better than this!

The Trout Creek Recreation Center amenity is available to association members and their guests only.

Tahoe Donner offers many trails for hikers, bikers and trail runners. These trails traverse into Euer Valley and climb to the top of Hawk’s Peak. The trails are ready late spring to early summer and are enjoyed until the snow falls. The possibilities are endless and range from dirt roads to well groomed single track trails. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall “Hasting’s Cutoff” is a favorite!

Tahoe Donner Beach & Marina

The Tahoe Donner Private Beach and Marina is located at the east end of Donner Lake near the state park. If you’re looking for a great place to spend your summer days, this is the place to go. At the Tahoe Donner Beach Club Marina, you can learn to windsurf, sail, enjoy Donner Lake on a private sandy beach, kids can fish for crawdads and everyone loves a relaxing evening barbecue. This is a great place to find your place in the sun, relax and absorb the beauty of the mountains.

If you didn’t have time to pack a picnic, The Beach Club Marina has a snack bar. It’s open from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. daily. Menu temptations include salads, hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, french fries, nachos, ice cream, drinks, and much more.

Don’t bother driving to town for film, sunglasses, or sunscreen – it’s all available at the Beach Club Marina. The retail and rental office are available for your convenience.

You’ll also find canoes, pedal boats, kayaks (one and two-man), stand-up paddle boards, windsurfers and catamaran sailboats for rent. Grab your sunscreen and come prepared to have fun!
